Electronic toll collection has started at the Padma Bridge

The bridge authority has started collecting tolls on the Padma Bridge through the Electronic Toll Collection System (ETCS) from Wednesday. As a result, the Padma Bridge toll can be paid in three ways, RFID, Touch and Go and Cash, without stopping the vehicle at the booth.

For this reason, this test is being conducted experimentally in one booth at both ends of the Padma Bridge using the radio frequency identification method. 14 booths have been brought under this automatic toll collection. When any vehicle registered through these booths comes in front of the toll plaza, automatic toll is being collected by detecting the vehicle through robotic cameras. As a result, as soon as the approved toll is collected, the automatic barrier is raised and the balance is shown on the screen.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Bridges Manjur Hossain started the operation of this method by crossing the toll plaza by paying the toll in the morning.

He said, for the time being, the trial will continue. A registration booth for smart toll system has been placed here. Those who want to register can do so from here.

He also said that there will be ‘touch and go’ booth here. If someone has a card, they can pay toll with it. Each booth has cash and debit card facility.

Bridge Secretary Manjur Hossain said that since smart toll collection has started on an experimental basis, two booths have been increased on two sides. So now there are 17 toll booths on both sides of the bridge.

On both sides of the bridge, booth No. 1 has only been allowed to collect tolls on the move using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system.

No. 2 Hybrid - RFID, Touch and Go and Cash are the three mods of toll payment in the booth. And touch and go and cash system has been introduced in these five booths number 3 to 7. At the same time, one can pay the toll in cash at the booths.
